Having trouble opening my fuel tank

I've been having trouble opening my fuel tank the usual way. Nothing happens,no sounds or clicks. Now I have to access it from the trunk and do it manually. This all started after I had some work done on the car near the gas door when they removed the panels and doors. Just a few weeks later,the switch stopped functioning altogether. Does anyone have any advice on how I might start fixing this issue?

My general knowledge says that since it was working after you got your kia back and stopped working a few weeks later, I think there is some damage to the wiring, door actuator or mechanism

Something might've been disconnected or misaligned during the panel work, I'd check the wiring around the gas door switch and the actuator for any loose connections. If that doesn't help, you might need to replace the switch or actuator.

Have you checked the wiring and connector near the gas door? It could've loosened. Test the switch for power. If not, might be something to do with the actuator like @Graffy82 here mentioned.

Sometimes getting work done on a car opens the door to A LOT MORE problems. I got really pissed when I did a change of oil a while back and then when I got home I got a CEL going on. For that problem of yours though, it might be a loose connection or a pinched wire during reassembly.
